Our proprietary Genetic Strength Rating is a metric that rates how a horse will run on the current race surface and distance based on how well its relatives have performed.

The GSR uses data going back 3 generations for both the Sire and Dam and assigns a rating from 0 to 100. A 50 rating is considered average. This metric is particularly helpful when handicapping a first time starter or a horse that has never raced on the current surface and distance. If a Sire or Dam does not have a GSR, it is because there is not a large enough sample size.
